Written by Admin on November 12, 2010I’ve seen women from Asia, chaste and added countries that embellish here to the US, and they are matched but they coiffe their anulus on their precise resource instead of their mitt aforementioned the women here in army do. So I was wondering connector they do that? Is it culture, religion, or some added reason?

Are you absolutely sure all of them were married? Maybe they have to use their lefts hands more and work and it gets in the way.

Is there some reason Americans wear their ring on the left instead of the right? No, there is no real reason, it’s just a cultural preference.
My wife wears her right on the right hand, because this is Jewish tradition.

My aunt married a norweigan man and she wears a ring on her right beacuse of his culture. She also wears one on her left because she is canadian. I guess its really preferance or culture

I’m in Canada, and I wear my rings on the right hand. My husband is from Eastern Europe, and that is there tradition there – so he had asked how I felt about doing the same. I did, and it’s actually been really nice to wear them on the right.
An explanation from Wikipedia -
“A traditional reason to wear the wedding ring on the right hand stems from Roman custom. The Latin word for left is “sinister”, which in addition to this sense also has the same senses as the English word. The Latin word for right is “dexter”, a word that evolved into “dexterity”. Hence, the left hand had a negative connotation and the right a good one.”

It is just culture. Nothing more, nothing less.

i thought it was a jewish custom from most european countries they came from. and i know a few rads who just like to do their thing. they are apt to wear it on their middle finger on either hand. like tatoos, they gotta be special.

I believe it could be both. Some cultures probably view the way a woman wears her ring veryyy different than here.

I am from Greece and we are also wearing our wedding band on our right hands. We wear it on the left while we are engaged and during the ceremony the priest changes it to the right hand. It’s a tradition for most European countries

The same reason America doesn’t use the metric system. Different culture.

maybe its a right hemisphere thing. just like how the water in toilets spin the other way. hahaha! maybe!

I don’t know. Maybe for the same reason the water spins differently when you flush the toilet.

Most countries have it on the right. I was engaged to a guy from Denmark.

my parents were from Europe and mom told me that they wear a plain gold ring on the left hand for an engagement and change it over to the right hand when they marry, so, if you see the ring on the left you know she’s engaged and if you see it on the right you know she’s married…they don’t have an engagement ring as such they use the same ring for either occasion.
