Wedding rings have no basis in Islam. It is actually an innovation and came from thousands of years ago (the time of the Pharaohs).
Wearing an engagement ring on the left finger is related to an old custom of the Greeks who believed that the circulation of blood by the aorta is done through this area.
If you are wearing a wedding ring with the belief that this will create strong bonds between you and your spouse, this ring is haraam, because it is an attachment to something for which there is no basis in Islam and which makes no sense.
On another note, it is permissible to wear rings for both men and women, just not with that intention. But remember that men cannot wear gold as it is forbidden to them by the Prophet (saw).
He (saw) saw a man wearing a ring of gold and he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took if from his hand and said, “Would any one of you take a coal from the fire and hold it in his hand?” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Libaas wa’l-Zeenah, 3897).
I hope inshaa Allah this has clarified you question.

In Muslim society the left hand is used for the day to day dirties such as wiping your ***. So it is considered disgraceful and insulting to shake with your left. Some of these customs have a reason. It may seem silly but back in the day these were safeguards people did to prevent things like disease. Muslims were some of the first to develop things like quarantine areas, they were once really advanced. Sad to see it’s gone to ****. As for the ring on the ring finger, the vein that runs through the finger is the one closest to the heart, check it out. Well, I hope I was helpful, G’day. -Mike-

Right hand after iktab
Left hand after the wedding ceremony. Maybe their husbands are too cheap to give them wedding ceremony. Since they have to pay so much for Ouillah and Akiran Al hamdoullah. Sisters always ask me why does the man get so much money from Allah and we don’t.. DUUUHHH!
Micheal – great point! Al hamdoullah thats why take mine off before I enter the bathroom, and i don’t wear it at work. That is excellent point and surely that should never been given thumbs down! Salam

Wedding rings are not a part of Islam. Muslims who accept rings at a marriage may wear them on a right hand as to not be confused with a Christian who prays for a blessing on the ring to give success in marraige.

you make an interesting observation.
considering they are the only 2 religions that have been slaughtering each other over a thousand years it makes sense that anything one would do the other would do the opposite

Tradition, in Greece I believe, they wear the wedding band on their left hand during the engagement. They transfer it to the right during the ceremony signifying marriage.

FYI: There is no wedding ring in islam. So you are asking this question in the wrong section, aight!
@asker: Yes, it’s wrong, a muslim who wears wedding ring is imitating the kuffar.
