I have absolutely no problems in mixing metals and often wear white gold, yellow, platinum, and sterling as long as the style and the gem stones compliment each other…
….my ‘fancy’ wedding band is a row of round peridots (my birthstone) set in plantinum and flanked on either side by a row of emerald cut white topaz (I don’t care for diamonds, will wear ‘em, tho) I often wear a 4 carat emerald shape cushion cut prasiolite (green amethyst) set in white gold with it (a christmas gift and what my hubby calls my second engagement ring ’cause we got engaged for chrismas lol) but I’ll wear the prasiolite with my everyday band which is a simple polished yellow gold. I also have another ‘fancy’ band …diamonds in a twist setting in yellow gold but it’s too bulky and must be worn alone (I didn;t ask for these bands…my hubby knows I love ‘sparklies’, treats me often, and has exellent taste in jewelry-lucky me!)
One look you can try is to matching eternity bands on either side…any color gold…personally I think contrasting will make the diamond stand out and look not only WOW but unique..and don’t think you have to stick with diamonds….a colored gemstone if you choose to match the metals will give a custom look….
What you can do is go to various jewelry stores and try on dif bands and gold colors to get a idea of the look YOU like-you don’;t hafta buy from that particular store….and don’t think you have to follow some one elses rules or taste….and don;t be boxed into thinking you have to have the traditional wedding look band either…my periots & white topaz isn’t a traditional look, but on my left hand there is no doubt exactly what it is…a wedding band….and all you ladies who believe a weddingdoesn’t have to be a ‘traditional’ one should agree with me on this…if your wedding can be ‘un-traditional’ then so can your wedding rings…Good Luck!

I would suggest doing a review of the jewelry you wear most often – do you wear a lot of yellow gold? If so, I’d go with that. Otherwise, I think the rose is unique and “adds a little twist.”
Someone else suggested soldering the rings together, and I second that. It will be better for the life of the rings and less for you to lose.
I would also recommend trying all the rings on – not just for looks, obviously, but to see how having all of that on one finger feels. That would be way too much for me!
Congratulations!

i think the rose gold would be striking.. and look alot more feminine with the shape of your stone.

To be honest…you can play up your solitaire with just one diamond band..Remember, platinum is not shiny…and gold is…I would have just one band…but with diamonds encasing the entire bandhttp://www.browngoldsmiths.com/images/br…http://www.natalia-diamonds.com/Wedding-…

you could try getting a wrap or something like that which could spice up your ring.
I am not a fan of rose gold but it’d look much better than yellow gold. BUt it’s really which would look best go and try tons and tons of them on until you find one you can’t live w/o.

Def. go with a thin rose gold band on each side, maybe with a micro pave diamond setting. It would be awesome, I love platinum and rose gold together. I would probably not do rose gold in your fiance’s band, pink isn’t very masculine.http://www.ezcreationsltd.com/shpr2anri2…http://www.jamesallen.com/products/item_…http://www.jewelbasket.com/jbnnpaprika-r…http://www.jewelbasket.com/jbuu63008-ros…

8mm is some serious finger coverage! Since you want to mix metals and are getting two bands, how about one yellow gold, one rose gold?

The only thing I can say is that if you get two different metals, being platinum and gold, you will HAVE TO solder them together no matter what. If you don’t, one will wear on the other and it’s an absolute disaster!

I think the wedding bands should be the same metal as the engagement ring.
I like your idea of the two bands, one on either side. I have a solitaire engagement ring, and my wedding band has channel set diamonds around it…I told my husband that for our 10 year anniversary I wanted an identical match of my wedding band to wear on the other side of my engagement ring too!
