You never need rings to get married. You need a license (some states have a waiting time like next day before it is valid), someone who is legally empowered to perform a wedding (like you justice of the peace), and witnesses (usually 2). Congrats and good luck.

No, they’ll ask you if you have them, but they aren’t required.

The wearing of wedding rings is a custom not a legal requirement. I have heard of people using a band of string or the paper band from a cigar.

No you don’t. The rings are a tradition, not legally required. I spent thousands on my wife’s ring, but we spent just a few bucks on mine. Do to what I did for a living I never could wear it for very long. Walmart may something very inexpensive till you can afford better. Good luck, and congratulations.

As previously stated, the rings are not required when you get married at the justice of the peace. My husband and I were married for a whole year without the rings because they were not a necessary part of the ceremony…and because we were a couple of college students who couldn’t afford them at the time.

The choice of exchanging rings at a wedding ceremony is strictly up to the couple, not the JP or State where you marry.
