What Is The Difference To The Eye Between White Gold And Platinum?
Written by Admin on December 11, 2010My occurrence anulus is albescent antimonial (a member carat princess revilement apportionment on stark albescent antimonial band) and my start anulus (we foregather purchased it) is platinum with petite princess revilement diamonds every around it. The adornment is 1/2 carat in diamonds and looked noise pretty with my enagement ring, however, the start adornment was not acquirable in albescent antimonial so we had to impart it in platinum. When I proven them on together, I saw virtually no difference in color, maybe because the diamonds on the adornment are the focus, but over time, what do I impact to do to find trusty the emblem don’t change? I dont impoverishment it to be noticeable.

No White Gold is actually “white”. All gold is yellow, and white gold in not dyed, but rather- Rhodium Electroplated. The Yellow Gold is “dipped” in two solutions and charged positively and negatively, and this allows the “white” to to “stick” to the metal. This doesn’t mean that it will chip, but over time, you will notice that it will begin to fade a little bit. The White Gold will have more of a yellow undertone, and the Platinum will remain White. It’s not a big deal- you will probably notice the change in color by the end of the first year. At that time, take it to any jeweler, and have the ring re-rhodium plated. This should cost you in the neighborhood of $50-$75. That will include a polish and cleaning. If you do this once a year, or however often you deem necessary, you won’t be able to tell the difference.
Also, help your rings stay in good condition and last longer by making sure to take them off when you wash your hands with any soap or chemical. While you might think it helps them stay clean, this is false. Even if you think you got all the soap off, know that you did not. It gets stuck in the little grooves and crevices and creates a layer of grime and wax. If you want to give your rings a gentle cleaning, buy a soft bristled toothbrush and regular white colgate, and give the ring and diamonds a light brushing under warm water and rinse well. For a professional steam cleaning, expect to pay $6-$10. It’s a god idea to do this every month or two, and it will take only a couple of minutes.

white gold is chemically processed to dye the gold white, platinum actually is a white tone. over time, the white gold will fade to yellow and you’ll have to have it reprocessed. That’s what Kevin Jewelers told my fiancee.
