Actually, I don’t like diamonds at all… they’re impractical (think snagging and cleaning), environmentally and socially irresponsible (mining practices are grotesque), and just too flashy and stereotypical for my taste. My ring is a simple silver band.
I noticed that one of the dads at my kid’s school has a tattooed wedding ring… I’ve never noticed if his wife does or not. But it’s perfect, because he’s a contractor, and a ring would probably get all scratched up and ruined. So I thought that was a lovely idea. That was the first time I’d seen one and I think they’re really cool.

My exhusband had one with my name and when we divorced it gave me much to laugh at cause he had to see my name every day… He had “flames” tattooed over it… but forever he will know that my name lies beneath that… h a ha ha ha ha a… sweet revenge.

I am also a little inked and LOVE the idea. My husband and I are planning on doing this as soon as we find a design that we like. We also have “real” rings. But I think it’s such a neat idea.

I don’t think I would go that route myself, but I like it. The permenance of a tattoo (lasers and “coverups” excluded) is a powerful symbol and reminder to perservere, work things out, and be serious when life gets hard. And let’s face it, it will.
The only negative I can see (other than the divorce issue, but I’m going to assume that you only want to get married once) is that by doing that, you lose the lovely gesture and powerful symbolic action of giving and receiving rings. The exchange is an external realization of the exchange of vows. It’s something tangible and a lovely moment for people to witness.
But this is all a personal decision. If it works for you two, I say go for it!

Get a tattoo on your ***..that way if it doesn’t work you won’t
see it! Plus, Pamela Anderson did that with Tommy Lee.
Now, instead of it saying “Tommy”, it says, “Mommy”.

I think its a cool idea if your both interested in it. But personally I like having a rock on my finger. Guys who work in jobs such as a mechanic it would be a good idea since safety is an issue.

THATS A GREAT IDEA IF YOUR POSITIVE THE MARRIAGE WILL WORK. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, ITS LIKE GETTING HIS NAME TATTOOED ON YOU. IF IT DOESNT WORK OUT YOU’RE STUCK WITH IT.

At least neither one of you will be able to lose your rings! LOL Maybe you should save this for a first anniversary celebration . . . just a thought.
Good luck!

I know this sounds anti-romance, but let’s think logically here. You don’t believe in divorce. What if he turns out to be an alcoholic? What if he physically or verbally hurts you? What if he cheats on you? There’s a lot of things that could happen. So tatoo if you must, but don’t let yourself be fooled, girl. Stay true to yourself.

you can do both. when you guys are at the church or where ever you choose to get married, what is he gonna slip on your finger? you can get a diamond ring, doesn’t have to be big, and then for like your one year anniversary get the tattoos. that would be so cute and romantic!! its a great idea though. and congratulations!!!

that’s cute and all but if the marriage fails your stuck with this tattoo that i don’t think you are going to want and to remove them its costly and time consuming so think about it first make sure this is the one well good luck and god bless.

I am not a tattoo fan so it would not work for me, but if you like the idea…go for it. I like diamonds so much better than tattoos!!!
