yah it should work you can revert back to normal after you downgrade by the main menu

no there is nothing wrong with just using your friend psp it well work out fine the only thing that i have noticed is that when you use your friends psp your friends nickname and network connections and security password does transfer to your psp. also about the battery you dont have to use a spare one the installer has a option to back up the serial number so you can converted back into a normal battery after your done with the installation.good luck with the pandora battery and trust me it sounds hard to do but it really really simple just read the instructions.
