It’s a personal decision. My mother, when she decided to stop wearing her wedding band put it in her jewelry box and moved her mother’s ring from her right hand to her left. She decided she didn’t want to wear the wedding ring, but she didn’t want to appear available because until she’s ready (which might be never, up to her) she’ll be devoting her life to her children and grandchildren.

My husband was killed in a car accident 20 months ago. I wore my wedding rings on my left hand until Valentine’s Day of this year. I got to feeling sorry for myself and took them off. But, I have his name tattooed on my ring finger of my left hand. So, even if I ever remarry (who knows, God hasn’t sent me anyone yet) I’ll still have his name there forever. I also wear his wedding ring on a chain around me neck and have since I got it from the funeral home. As of right now, I’ll probably wear it forever, I’m not sure.

It’s all a matter of personal preference. My future sister-in-laws husband passed away last year and she still wears her wedding bands on her left hand, and her husbands ring on a chain around her neck.
You just have to do what feels right for you. It’s individual, and no choice is wrong.

You can either continue to wear them on your left hand…most older women do this since they aren’t interested in dating or remarriage… or you can switch them to the other hand… Some women might choose not to wear them at all… It really depends on the woman.

You can continue to wear them on your left hand, or move them to your right, or just remove them all together. Its completely up to you and how comfortable you feel wearing them or not.

Since they’re already on your left hand you would move them to your right hand to indicate that you are looking for another husband.

I continued to wear my rings for years after my husband’s death. I moved them when I met someone new years later and became engaged.

Anyone I know, including my mom, who was widowed, kept the rings on the same hand.

You continue to wear them. The only reason you would remove them is if you remarried.

If my husband died, I would still wear them…because I wouldn’t get remarried, but that’s just me.
