Because he’s male??? Okay that’s a first. Every time I go to a fine jewelry retailer I am always helped by males – so trust me his gender cannot possibly be the problem.
Where’s he going to search for jobs? Houston is filled with stores but a lot of time the great ones are privately owned and usually stick to family and close friends when it comes to staffing choices.
Perhaps he can try obtaining employment now since its the holiday season at a department store such as Macy’s or in The Galleria. Get the experience under his belt and then reapply at other high-end jewelers after he gets a few months (preferably six) of experience under his belt. And who knows maybe the high-end jewelers are in need of holiday help now.
