So — crapper anyone hold this? (Please wage sources or feature whether you are style from personalised experience.)

Silver tarnishes and if you are wearing it everyday it isn’t going to hold up very well over a long period of time.

Silver is softer and will show more wear….but if it’s what they like and want, find a jewlery store that will sell it to them. They are the ones who have to wear them and deal with it if they get scratched up etc. They should be able to do what they want.

Silver is VERY soft and maliable. I’ve had several sterling rings and you can EASILY bend them and break them.
So I would say it’s suitable for ‘costume’ type jewelry but not for a wedding ring which will be worn daily.

Silver alone is somewhat too soft for rings, however, blend at least 15% nickel and you will get a ring that looks just as good if not better than white gold. (Source: Personal experience.).

I don`t think so.Most people use gold and it is a soft metal to.It just cost more for the gold. Get what you like if you are getting married it`s your wedding and be happy.

Yes, silver is too soft, and will not last. You need to get either white gold, platinum (which I have and needs to be buffed regularly at the jeweler because of scratching), or Titanium.

my boyfriend got me a ring that is yellow gold with rhodium plating. i would say it is probably pretty soft. i think sivler is softer.
in addition to this, stay clear of rhodium plating becuase the shien wears off in about a month and you have to have it replated.

don’t let them tell you platinum is strong. it’s not. it’s really soft and really expensive.
i think white gold is a better option since it won’t tarnish, but it too scratches. you should see my engagement ring…

i would have your friends do whatever they pleae. silver is a soft metal and for something that you wear everyday it will show the wear after a while.
if this is a money issue, tell your friend to get silver ones now…and then purchase more expensive ones in a few years.

    Go with white gold.
Silver is too delicate and once platinum loses it’s lustre, you can NEVEr get it back (this is totally true and it’s more expensive).

Silver is a very soft metal and will scratch. HOWEVER, SO IS GOLD. Many of these precious metals are very soft, which is why they are often combined with something else to add hardness so they will last longer. Advise your friend to research her options before making a decision, and ultimately to choose what she prefers, not what the jeweler is trying to sell her.

Silver is CHEAP, and yes it will scratch!…Don’t be cheap, go for Platinum.
