I would say go with tungsten. I have a white gold engagement ring I wear with my tungsten wedding band and I have a lot more scratches on the engagement ring than the tungsten one.
Tungsten is very hard and they don’t scratch like my engagement ring. They’re not light though, they’re heavier but it’s not a big deal. They’re very shiny. They shine as well as my engagement ring. My husband and I got them at http://www.tungstenworld.com/ and they have an engraving program too so if you want something engraved, you can play around and choose what you want engraved on it before you buy.

Titanium IS light. I have a titanium band. You can also get engraving in a titanium band, but you’ll need to do it at the time you order; it is too hard for most regular jewelry-store engraving equipment.
It also CAN be cut off with hospital equipment, if necessary. The material that can’t is tungsten, but that can also be removed by a vise-like device. (That kind of hardness has its own advantages in some circumstances. For instance, if you slam the door on your finger where your ring is, a gold ring will bend and squash your finger, but a titanium or tungsten ring will protect it. But you definitely shouldn’t wear your ring doing any job where it could get snagged; you could lose a finger that way, whatever the ring is made of.)
Titanium and tungsten can’t be sized; that’s something to consider.
Titanium is hard wearing, but it isn’t particularly shiny.

Of the three, tungsten is the most scratch-resistant but cannot be re-sized and can shatter under certain circumstances. We know someone this happened to and the pieces cut his finger. Titanium rings can usually be resized despite common myths; see details here: http://titaniumresizing.com/ Platinum has the most intrinsic value but is the weakest of the three. As to color, platinum is whitest, then titanium, then tungsten. Titanium is the lightest-weight. All three can be engraved.

I would say the tungsten. It is a very durable ring! My brother in law has one and that is what my FH will be wearing. My brother in law fell on the concrete and there was a horrible scratching sound. We all thought the ring was ruined, but the ring was perfectly fine. The concrete had a scratch from the ring. They can’t be sized. You have to order the right size at first. If you buy the warranty with it they will replace the ring if you need a bigger/smaller size down the road.

I’m planning on getting titanium, I think there beautiful and I like the idea of a strong metal for a strong marriage. The other posters make a good point though that you can’t resize them. I’m still going this route, I really like them.

They are all good choices, but I would avoid the platinum. Not only is platinum expensive, it can bend etc more than the others if you work with your hands. I would personally choose the tungsten for the durability and look.

Platinum of course is the best you can buy, if the price is a problem then go for palladium, it has all the qualities of platinum but at a much lesser price.
    Good luck.

Titanium is not a good idea. Its cheap to buy probably for a few reasons, and one, its not light weight, and 2, in an emergency they wont be able to cut it off.
I would say Platinum is best.
