An engagement ring is different from a wedding ring. The engagement ring is what you’re looking for if you’re planning on proposing. It usually consists of a larger stone (usually a diamond) and either smaller stones on either side or it can be a solitaire (only one stone).
The wedding rings or bands are what you exchange in the actual ceremony– both men and women receive one. They’re usually very simple, but they can also be ornate as well.
Hope this helps! Congrats on the upcoming engagement!

the engagement ring is usually a solitare of any stone. mine is an emerald. typically it’s a diamond, but lots of girls are staying away from diamonds bc of blood diamonds.
the wedding band is purchased separatley, usually with the bride and you exchange the bands at the ceremony. it’s usually a plain band or one with multiple stones in it.
any reputable jeweler can help you find just the right rings!

You first need an engagement ring. Go to the jeweller, and figure out what you are willing to spend. Also, it’s nice to get an idea of what she likes too, solitaire, or 3 stones, etc.
When picking diamond you need to take into account, the 3 c’s. Color, cut and clarity.
Once you have chosen the cut, then decide how much you will spend for the color (which start at D being colorless) and then the clarity. The closer you get to perfection, obviously the more you will pay. If you don’t know a ton about diamonds though, and don’t have a huge budget, I’d opt for color, over clarity, as no one really studies your diamond under a microscope. Good luck, with the big proposal!!!

NO – a wedding ring is a band – can be plain metal (gold, platinum, etc.) or have diamonds. An engagement ring is a ring with usually one large stone (often diamond) sometimes flanked with other stones. A wedding set includes both rings. She gets the E-ring now & the wedding ring during the wedding & wears them both together. Any jewelers website should have plenty of rings for you to look at that will show the difference. I would just get a set, and keep the wedding band until the wedding…

The wedding ring is traditionally a plain band given at the actual wedding, the engagement ring has the stone in it. But they are sometimes both called wedding rings, so choose something with the stone for now – Good luck!

Engagement ring is a promise to marry and traditionally has at least one precious stone in it and costs 1 months wages.
Wedding band is plain and symbolises the unbroken vows given in marriage.
Eternity ring is a celebration of eternal love and may be given at any point after marriage, Providing no vows have been broken.

There is a big difference in engagement/wedding rings,as you are going to propose to your girlfriend, just ask the shop to show you their selection of engagement rings, you won’t go wrong then.
Only when you are about to marry her do you ask to see actual wedding rings, til then,it’s an engagement ring you want.
Wedding rings are usually a plain band or with maybe a pattern on it,although they sometimes have the odd little stone in them, but engagement rings can be a single solitare stone or a band with many tiny stones in it.
If it’s a catalogue you’re looking in,it should state,either engagement or wedding ring/band.
PS:My ex chose my engagement ring and surprised me with it,I loved it cos it was his choice and something that caught “his” eye, felt so much more personal and meaning to me personally, but it’s all down to preference with all people I suppose.

an engagement ring is different then a wedding ring, just ask to see bridal sets if you are wanting to get both of them as a set or just ask for an angagement ring if you are not wanting both of them right now

Agree with answers above.
As a woman, I’d rather choose a ring myself, so maybe it’s not a good idea to buy one in advance anyway.

a wedding band is typically just a ban. it may have diamonds but they are encreasted in the ring. a engagement ring t is usually set on top of a ring. is that a little clearer now? go on tiffany’s website they have a good description.
