I actually had no idea about the “wearing your band on the inside closest to your heart” tradition. I got married in April 2008 and have been wearing my engagement ring on the inside all this time, now after reading about the tradition I have switched my rings around. I like the traditional way of wearing the rings and the idea of wearing my wedding band closest to my heart

I tend to be a bit rebellious, and for the first year and a half went against tradition (purposely) giving the excuse that, since the engagement ring got there first, and the wedding band last I would keep it that way, no matter what people said… Also, before I got my rings re-sized, they fell off one time, and I felt the more expensive ring was safer on the inside…
Now that they fit perfectly, and I know they won’t slip off again, I noticed that the engagement ring stands out more when it is on the outside…
So, I now wear them “the proper way”, but not because tradition dictates that’s the way it should be, but because I LIKE it that way…
If later on I get bored and chose to change them again, then that is my prerogative, don’t you think?

Because my band & engagement ring do not sit well together, I will be wearing my band on my left hand ring finger and my engagement ring on my right hand after the wedding.
Most people wear the wedding band first – - closest to the hand – - then the engagement ring.

You are right. I also wear an anniversary ring my husband got me for our 10th with my wedding band and e-ring (they are narrow and modest so it’s not like it’s tons of bling!). It’s a chevron style so fits under the wedding band. But we wear our rings on the right hand, Eastern European tradition.

Traditionally, it would be the wedding band (closest to your heart) and then engagement ring. As people move farther from tradition, it’s becoming more common to wear it the other way around since they get the engagement ring first, followed by the wedding ring.

you do what is best for you as long as it is on your ring finger of your left hand. I wear my ring with the engagement ring near my heart because I never take it off thus the band had to go on last. But tradition stated the wedding ring should be closest to your heart.
Good luck, tell people that is the way you choose to wear your rings and mind their own business. lol

You’re supposed to keep your wedding band “closest to your heart,” so it goes on your finger first, with the engagemetn ring on top. So yes, you’re wearing it right.

yes that is the correct way to wear it, its just that some people now dont follow tradition and may do it in different ways!

I’m gonna wear my engagement ring on my left hand till I’m married, then I’m moving it to my right hand and I’ll just wear my wedding band on my left hand.
