Hematite Jewelry?
Written by Admin on September 29, 2009I impact bought a attractable hematite adornment and today I am galling to connexion more noesis most the stone. It is a discernment grueling to connexion an move on line. If hematite is unnaturally magnetized (as far as I understood) and in nature it is not attractable or has noise weak attractable property, for how daylong power the magnet last? It cannot tangency forever. Unfortunately I didn’t transmit the vender at the time. Anybody knows?

The magnetism won’t go away unless, as the other writer said, you drop it, heat it, or run it through a demagnetizer. One way to think about it is that the process of magentization aligns the iron particles in the stone so that they are oriented the same direction (with their individual north south poles lined up). It isn’t like charging a battery. Unless something happens to scramble the particles back up, the magnetization will stay.

I’ve had one for about five years – it’s still magnetised.
The magnetism is created by placing the hematite in a strong magnetic field. This induced magnetism will last longer if
a) you don’t drop it
b) you don’t heat it up
c) you don’t put it near another magnet

I have heard that magnetic force lasts about 400 years unless magnetized again. Not 100% on this though.
