first... if its marked 14k is there also a trademark? Legally, there is supposed to be...
after all, anyone can buy a 14k stamp and stamp a piece of plated brass.
then you need to know about value. jewelry is sold retail, but seldom AT retail, usually on sale, so already you have TWO values. The Retail and the Sale price. Reasonably, you can't expect ANYONE to buy a used piece from someone off the street for either Retail or Sale price.
If you took the piece and sent it to a smelter who melted it down, reclaimed the gold and sent you a check, you would determine the Smelt value. This is todays gold price less a fee for the smelting.
Other prices are: Insurance value, scrap value and resale value.
If you want to sell it, your highest price could be a personal sale... Bob needs a christmas gift and you will sell it to him lower than the store will.
Then there are resellers, like antiques dealers, estate dealers and pawn shops. These are listed in order of what you can expect them to pay you. A Pawn dealer may only pay you 5% sale price and he isnt really a crook, that's just business.
If you find a local goldsmith who needs gold (they all do this time of year) he may give you a good offer.
Expect to be asked for your ID and a thumbprint.

According to EX.com gold is worth 793 us dollars per ounce, but this is for 99.999 not 14 carat.
Don't know what country you are in but in the uk some gold shops will buy back but at nowhere near the price they sell as there is lots of taxes on gold in the uk.
Otherwise try pawnbrokers, secondhand shops and antique dealers. even better find some one you know to buy it.

the gold value to begin with is:
$800/oz. x 14k/24k x oz./31.1 g. x 5 g. = about $75.
i don't know what a "dealer" would pay you for it, maybe half?
