The old rule of “don’t mix gold and silver” is obsolete and out of date. It comes from a time when the rules stated that one must wear a hat and little white gloves every time one when out, even shopping! Lots of those fashion rules are out of date and no longer followed. Many top jewellery makers and designers mix gold and silver tone (either white gold or platinum) metals in the same piece so it doesn’t matter if you wear your silver-toned wedding rings with a pair of gold earrings or a gold bracelet. Plenty of fashion and style setters wear gold and silver together and it looks quite nice. It’s not mismatched! Don’t worry about it! No one will say anything or even notice. Often I tell clients to ignore the wedding and engagement rings when planning the accessories for an outfit since they are worn at all times. They are both very small and subtle and almost not noticed. I think it’s kind of tacky replace a piece of jewelry with so much meaning with a cheap coloured band with no meaning just so you can wear gold. Wear your platinum wedding ring and wear whatever gold jewelry that you wish, it’s not an issue.

Consider waiting until your anniversary and purchase a gold & silver/platinum/white gold band that combines both. The colors will match whichever you are wearing, and it could symbolize the union of two separate entities combining to make one as you and your husband have done.

Not traditionally,but its a whole new world now. I don’t think you need to worry so much about it though. I have a ellow gold ring and love sterling, so it bothered me too. Your wedding ring however is kind of set apart from the rules of other jewelry wearing.

i dont like to mix silver and gold but i guess if its your wedding ring it wouldnt hurt..
