I’m not sure where in the world that live, but you can get a claddagh (pronounced clah-dah) ring (sp… irish wedding band) in white gold. One way it means that your engaged. The other way it means that your married. You can wear the same ring as both. I hope this gave you an idea. Good Luck.
P.S. Here is a website I’ve personally done business with.

Of course you can, you can wear whatever rings you want….there are no set rules to any of this.
I’m married and wear a wedding ring but I’ve never had an engagement ring.

Yes, of course you can. However, if money’s a problem, don’t go with platinum! There are lots of lovely wedding bands for decent prices -http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser…http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser…

my opinion is be happy with what you got, you know your love is strong for each other and no matter how many rings or how big the ring is, you two have a comitment that mean something to the two of you, no matter what tradition says, what society says, what friends or fam say, i mean, even here in holland you only have one ring, a wedding ring, and even without a ring, who cares, as long as you know what matters to you.
good luck and lots of love and happyness to the both of you

platinum is going to be very expensive. I know many people who only wear one ring, you dont need 2.

i think all that is needed is a wedding band and that is it.
I like gold wedding bands, nothing fance, just simple

    i don’t know about u’r tradition
but u can wear a wedding ring without engagement ring, people in olden days use to wear engagement ring to show that the girl or boy is mine(engaged) thats all.
two rings for one finger looks odd.
platinum look good.(jus see the love not the price)

The ring symbolizes your love for each other.
You dont need an engagement ring. I think the bands are enough and many people have only the wedding bands. It is not bad luck at all. Dont worry about a thing. I am sure they will look beautiful.
Platinum is the silver color it is more expensive than white gold. I am sure where you get your bands will have many types of selections for you.

    Of course you can!!!
Many women only wear a wedding band. The very beautiful Nigella Lawson, the english chef on tv is an example. And I think it looks really elegant and very married to see a woman wearing only a thin platinum or white gold wedding band.
Congratulations and good luck. Sounds like you have your priorities in order nicely. Go for the lovely, quality wedding band, it is much more important than an engagement ring.
And yes, people will know you are married.

Honey, how about a pair of claddagh rings? traditionally they can be used as both engagement and wedding rings…and quite frankly you don’t have to be irish to wear them……
…any place that deals with imported fine irish jewelry can supply them…..in different metals and styles….it’s a beautiful old tradition that is making a come back among those of irish heritage..and quite a few who aren’t irish as well……….
as far as metal…platinum wears the best and has a cooler, slightly darker tone than the bright white of either white gold or sterling silver. ( I have a platinium eternity ring, which my hubby calls a ‘forever ring’ )White gold because of it’s metal composition is tougher than yellow gold..and dispite what I’ve read here I have many white gold pieces, some older than you, Hon, lol and they have never yellowed…..18 carat gold is softer than 14 carat, and 14 carat is softer than 10 carat, here again because of the metal composition…it’s very, very dificult to tell 14 and 10 apart so for durablility I’d go with the 10 carat ( I have all three carats in various pieces….my ‘everyday wedding band is a plain 10 carat yellow gold…very durable)
So do some research…go to jewerly stores..the sales personelle are more than happy to answer questions if they think you’ll be back for a purchase..surf the internet to get a good idea of what you’d like…and Good Luck.

well the wedding ring i am going to have is a white gold band with a sapphire in the middle of it and four smaller diamonds on either side of it.. it might sound a but garish but its gorgeous, i too didnt want an engagement ring so decided to wear something fancy for my wedding band… its feminine and not as expensive as the very over priced 2k.

my wife only wears her engagement ring which is white gold with a .5 carat solitaire cut diamond. It cost about 2k. You want platinum because you know it’s expensive not because of it’s quality. A platinum wedding band with no diamond will run 2grand by itself. Quit being greedy and take what he gives you.
